I have already talked to you about elopement. It is a love getaway that two lovers do in order to take an oath of eternal love to one another, with very few people present: it is an informal, very intimate and evocative ritual that more and more couples are choosing. Over the last few days, I had the chance to tell through pictures the elopement in Venice of Francesco and Daniele, two wonderful persons.
ELOPEMENT IN VENICE: WHO ARE FRANCESCO AND DANIELE?
In a world where kindness and humanity are more and more forgotten, it is a pleasure to meet people with rare courteousness in the course of one’s work. That is why Francesco and Daniele will always have a special place in my life, and not just in the professional one.
Daniele is an architect. He defines himself as romantic, hardheaded, and creative. Francesco is a makeup artist who is “protective, romantic, and stubborn”. The spark between them started at a dinner with friends in Milan, but it is Venice that was chosen for their elopement.
VIDEOMAKER IN VENICE: A UNIQUE EMOTION
If I had to look for a word to substitute “music” I could only think of Venice, Nietzsche wrote.
Venice! Is there a city more admired, more celebrated, more sung by poets, more desired by lovers, more visited and more illustrious? Venice! Is there a name among the human languages that has made people dream more than this? Guy de Maupassant remarked.
It is a city that needs no introduction and that over the course of its extraordinary history has inspired movie directors, photographers, musicians, painters, and writers: every form of art must thank such an extraordinary place.
That is also why it was with much emotion and a bit of pride that I accepted Francesco and Daniele’s request: to be the videographer for their elopement in Venice.
ARRIVING IN THE CITY: A DAWN OF LOVE
The lagoon is fantastic at 5 in the morning. The canals are full of colors springing from a sun that rises slowly but surely to wake up a city that in a few hours will be swarmed by tourists.
Indeed, it was in order not to waste this Romantic capital given by a not yet fully awaken Venice that my team and I chose to do a part of the shoot in the early hours of the morning.
ELOPEMENT IN VENICE: A PROMISE AT SUNSET
As expected, it was an intense day, but also a beautiful and challenging one from a professional point of view. Being a videomaker for elopements is more difficult that for weddings. Indeed, it must be remembered that the elopement must retain a unique intimacy and as such it must be respected.
This means taking photos of the couple, but it also means being very discrete in order to give them opportunity to fully enjoy such a special day.
The elopement in Venice of Francesco and Daniele saw its peak in an evocative ritual in which the two men have sworn each other eternal love, through words that have left the mark. Touching words that will not be forgotten.
The ritual took place at sunset, within a beautiful frame that only Venice and few other cities in the world can give. Unique colors that stimulate an elopement videographer (and not only them), who cannot wait to let the love of a couple shine among the colors of a beautiful day that has come to dusk.
As already said, those were hours full of emotions, starting at dawn and ending at sunset.
On my part there was also a lot of satisfaction: that of a professional videographer that has framed some beautiful memories for two wonderful men. I have the pleasure to show some footage of the moment in which Francesco and Daniele have exchanged their oath of love.
